ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Michael Garrett, author of the definitive examination of Morgan Creek's dueling Exorcist prequel films, EVIL AGAINST EVIL: THE PREQUELS TO THE EXORCIST, once wrote for defunct horror cinema-themed BloodyNews.com. But more compelling is his experience writing an essay for Australian book-editor Benjamin Szumskyj's AMERICAN EXORCIST: CRITICAL ESSAYS ON WILLIAM PETER BLATTY (Fall/Winter 2008), concerning the horror icon's 1996 novel, DEMONS FIVE, EXORCISTS NOTHING: A FABLE.

The creator, editor-in-chief and graphic-novelist of Blastorm: Zombie Killer (2001) and Blastorm: Bloodstorm (2004), Garrett most recently is the co-creator of Zimmerman and Garrett's Beef N' Brains #1, doing all the conceivable work but drawing the actual story; Blastorm vet Laz Novak did that deed, and well.

Besides this trilogy of cartoon tomes, his Engove Comics outfit is looking to venture beyond the secular and superheroic with at least one Christian-themed series whose details remain sketchy, aside from “NOT CHEESY” and “EPIC.”

Garrett, a full-time, year-round masters student in Illustration (graphic novels) at the prestigious Academy of Art University, S.F., earned his B.A. in Art (studio) and minors in English (writing) and Art (history) from Humboldt State University, Arcata, in 2005.
